Embu County Profile
Embu County Government headed by H.E Governor Martin Wambora is one of the 47 counties in Kenya which came into operation after the March 4 2013 General Election. As an entity exercising constitutional authority, it is responsible for county legislation (outlined in article 185 of the Constitution of Kenya), executive functions (outlined in article 183), functions outlined in the fourth schedule of the constitution of Kenya, functions transferred from the national government through article 187 of the constitution of Kenya, functions agreed upon with other counties under article 189(2) of the constitution of Kenya, and establishment and staffing of a public service (under article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya). The operations of Embu County Government in line with the fourth schedule of the Constitution of Kenya are:

In Embu County, housing can be obtained through renting, building or buying a home. Housing in most rural parts of the county is privately owned with majority of these homes built with traditional materials while others built with more permanent materials. The cost of the housing varies depending with the location but the overall cost is relatively fair.
Martin Nyaga Wambora is the first Governor of Embu County after winning on The National Alliance ticket in the Embu gubernatorial elections which was conducted in March 2013.// Wambora was the MP for Runyenjes consistency from 2003 to 2007 where during his tenure the constituency was Ranked Number One (1) in Kenya for Best Utilization of CDF Funds in 2003-2007.
Prior to becoming the Governor of Embu County, served as the chairman of the Board of Kenya Airports Authority and led to its winning of the two most prestigious international airport industry awards in 2011.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford (USA), Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management and Rural Development from the University of Connecticut (USA) and Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Makerere University. Wambora served as a District Officer between 1976-1984 under the former Ministry of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security, then as a Management Analyst (Consultant), Directorate of Personnel Management – Office of the President, Deputy Director of Budget, Ministry of Finance and Deputy Permanent Secretary.
