WELCOME TO THE GOVERNMENT OF MAKUENI COUNTY
Makueni County covers an area of 8,034.7 sq km with a projected population of more than 0.9million people. It geographically borders Kajiado County to the West, Taita Taveta County to the South, Kitui County to the East and Machakos County to the North. The county lies in the arid and semi-arid zones of the Eastern region of the country.
Major physical features in the county include the Volcanic Chyulu hills which lie along the South West border of the County in Kibwezi West constituency, Mbooni hills in Mbooni sub county and Kilungu hills in Kaiti subcounty. The County is divided into Six sub-counties namely:Makueni,Mbooni, Kaiti,Kibwezi East, Kibwezi West and Kilome. The county has 30 Assembly Wards namely: Mbooni subcounty:wards {Tulimani,Mbooni,Kithungo,Kisau/Kiteta,Kako/Waia,Kalawa,} Kilome subcounty:wards{Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni,Mukaa,Kasikeu} Kaiti sub county:wards{Kee,Kilungu,Ilima,Ukia} Makueni sub county:wards{Nzaui/Kalamba,Muvau,Kathonzweni,Mavindini,Kitise/Kithuki,Wote,Mbitini} Kibwezi West sub county:wards{Makindu,Kikumbulyu North,Kikumbulyu South,Nguumo,Nguu/Masumba,Emali/Mulala} Kibwezi East subcounty:wards{Masongaleni,Mtito Andei,Thange,Ivingoni}
Our County is famous for horticulture, already there are water management community projects like dams, irrigation schemes and boreholes that boost agriculture hence bringing wealth to all. The county has a progressive authority that concentrates on service delivery and continuum investment. It has opened up development information on the web, social networks, maps as well as sms and it strides to be a model county in the country, regional and beyond.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Prof. Kivutha Kibwana was born in Mwanyani, a remote part of Nzaui District in Makueni County. He attended Machakos School for his O’ & A’ Levels.
A family man, he has studied in Kenya, The U.S and London. He holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from The University of Nairobi and a Master of Law Degree in Comparative Constitutional Laws of the Commonwealth; Law of Natural Resources Africa South of the Sahara; Principles of Civil Litigation; Jurisprudence and Legal Theory from The University of London.
Master of Law Degree in Anthropological Approaches to Law; International Business Transactions; Labour Law; U.S.A. Constitutional Law; Foreign Investment in Natural Resources from The Harvard University, USA.
(SJD) of International Law; International Human Rights Law; Comparative Law; Jurisprudence and Legal Theory in George Washington University, USA., and a Masters in Arts - Theological Studies from Africa International University
PROFESSIONAL CAREER
He has been an Spokesperson of National Convention Executive Council (NCEC) and Associate Professor of University of Nairobi, Dean, Faculty of Law, of University of Nairobi, Senior Lecturer of University of Nairobi ,Chairman of Department of private law ,Lecturer of University of Nairobi.
POLITCAL CAREER
In 2002, when the Kibaki administration came to power under National Rainbow Coalition (NARC), he became a Member of Parliament for Makueni Constituency, and Minister of both Land and Settlements and Environment & Natural Resources.
He would later in 2007 be appointed as Kibaki’s Presidential Advisor (Constitutional, Parliamentary & Youth Affairs in the of Office of the President .
He became the flag bearer of Muungano Party and eventually won the Gubernatorial election.
