INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SECTOR:
The information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a vital sector in the social economic development of the county. The Government has recognized the importance of ICT as a powerful tool in accelerating the productivity of all sectors and empowering people to meet challenges of the 21st century . To optimize the sector's contribution to the development to the einire econ9o9my , the government is currently offering investment opportunities to the private sector. The ICT sector in the county provides investment opportunities in the following areas under the Public Private Partnership arrangement. E-government services: The goverment is digitizing most of its services to improve service delivery. The government is therefore looking forward to partner with the private sector in PPP arrangement to provide E government services .
Major areas include motor vehicle management , human resources, land registration and many others. The government considers a partnership to establish an ICT center as a top priority since they have a significant potential tpo cintribute to ICT infrastrucure development in particular and enhancement of economic growth of the region in general.
SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE DEVELOPMENTS : The county government welcomes a move to develope software and hardware that provides local solutions to local problems. Appplications that is easy to use and have high productivity capabilities is very desireble . Supply of software and hardware is an open market to investors in the region and neghboring counties.
The objective of West Pokot is to create a platform for informed decision making; create an environment for robust economic development; building social cohesion and further ensuring that within the county we realize our vision of working together in development and growth. The Plan contains programmes and projects designed with great consideration to promoting equitable distribution of resources within our county
