Le Mandingue African Restaurant

Le Mandingue is an upscale, ethnic, African restaurant where quality and hospitality meet. Le Mandingue has been a staple ground for both locals and tourists looking for the best African food in the city of Philadelphia for over 12 years. Le Mandingue serves native dishes from across West Arica. We have great food, live music, and a restaurant culture that will leave you with a lasting impression. MEET THE OWNERS Mr. Kaba and Fanta, owners of Le Mandingue, are not only trailblazers in the restaurant industry, but are also philanthropists in the African community here and back home.  Before Fanta arrived at becoming the owner of one of the world’s most successful African restaurants, she faced many obstacles during her journey. Fanta not only came to America as a war victim of Liberia, but she is also an amputee who lost her leg due to a serious car accident. After her accident, tables turned for her, but her favor from God has never changed. In the African community, being an amputee is very rare. At times, Fanta was made to feel like an outcast. However, she kept pushing to follow her dreams to open the infamous Le Mandingue restaurant. She is an inspiration to African women, people with disabilities, mothers, and small business owners. She takes pride in her five children and her hardworking husband, who has been her backbone throughout her journey. She truly admires her husband because he has never allowed her physical state to interfere with their love. Fanta is a walking model of perseverance. To have Fanta share her story for press, interviews, or at an event, please email us at Lemandingue1@gmail.com You can catch Mr. Kaba, Fanta, and the rest of the power team working hard 7 days a week at Le Mandingue.

With a master chef who has almost 40 years experience in food preparation and a culinary degree from Milan, Italy, African Small Pot offers the finest West African, Italian AND American cuisine. African Small Pot’s owner, Abdarahmane Diop (pronounced dee-?p), is a Mauritanian native who started his cooking career working on Goree Island in Senegal almost 40 years ago. Since then Diop has committed his life to developing his culinary skills and expressing his love of people through his food. Shortly after he arrived in the United States in 1994, he began working for Sam’s Saloon & Restaurant in Glenolden, PA. Fluent in 8 languages, Diop worked at the Delaware County Italian restaurant for almost 20 years serving as head chef with his good friend and favorite boss, the late Rosario (“Big Russ”) Terazzi and his good friend the late Diva Orlando. Together they grew the business from two rooms to four sections.
