The Governor today participated in a stakeholder’s consultative forum organized by the state via KENHA who are partnering with the World Bank to construct a 450km continuous paved ring road along the entire shores of Lake Victoria at the cost of sh42billion.

The project dubbed Lake Victoria Ring Road is expected to kick start early next year. The road will be constructed from Bumula in Busia County to Muhuru Bay in Migori County and will traverse Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay Counties before ending in Muhuru Bay.
The Governor with the residents of Homa Bay County approved the construction of the road at a hotel meeting, saying it will boost the fishermen activities across the lake and spur economic growth of the counties affected.
KENHA’s Project Manager Engineer Kefa Seda said they are seeking public opinion to factor in their proposals where possible. The ring road is expected to alleviate transport challenges that have for a long time hindered economic development in the region.
