WE WILL INVEST MORE IN EDUCATION FOR BETTER RESULTS, SAYS GOVERNOR ROBA

The Governor of Mandera County H.E Governor Ali Roba has pledged to purchase a school bus and construct science laboratory for Wayam Secondary school in Banissa sub-county at a prize giving ceremony. The school had a mean score of 6.20 up from 4.5 in 2012 becoming the second best performing secondary school in the county after Mandera secondary school in the just released KCSE result. The school was at the center of controversy in 2014 when students' unrest caused widespread damage to the school facilities. The school received a grant of Kenyan shillings 2M from the county government following the destruction.

The cash was spent on the purchase of office furniture, textbooks and expansion of the staff room. The Governor also presided over the prize giving ceremony at Kiliweheri primary school, which became the second best performing primary school after Elram in Mandera South sub-county. In a bid to improve the students' and pupils` performance, the county government introduced a county wide mock examination for form three and four students in secondary schools and class 7 and 8 pupils in primary schools among other measures put in place. The Governor attended the price giving ceremonies on the first day of his five-day tour to Banissa sub-county.
